The living state of energy is the result of a process. A process which, itself, is lifeless. It produces us, and the rest of the biosphere of which we are part, but it is not more aware of it than the wind is of sculpting sand dunes.
What is, really, the instance of life?
What are we?
There was a before, a long before, in which we did not need to know. Yet, without our ‘knowing’, the very same process that has forged us, was obliviously and inexorably leading to this transition.
Now, we need to know.
Why?
Because it is through us, our species or, if you like, through the ‘gate’ of our own biological organization, that the evolution of this ‘living state of energy’, will create its future intelligent versions.
That is, this means that it is ‘us’, guided irresistibly and absolutely by the same agency that enabled the possibility of this ‘living’ state of energy and its subsequent evolution, who will be creating, or crafting if you prefer, the next ‘variant’, and indeed dominant form of intelligent life.
